Chatham County Justice Center
location: Chatham County, Pittsboro, North Carolina,
opening: 2012
Taking its cue from the historic "Circle Courthouse", the Chatham County Justice Center project is a modern adaptation of a classical judicial facility. The 90,000-sf facility will anchor the southern edge of the growing County campus. It will consolidate the Offices of the Clerk of Superior Court, the District Attorney, the Public Defender, the Department of Juvenile Justice and Community Corrections under one roof. District Court functions will be housed on the second floor, while Superior Court functions are accommodated on the third. Sustainable features will include a geothermal mechanical system and day-lighting strategies.
