


Cedar Ridge High School
location: Hillsborough- Orange County Schools, North Carolina
Cedar Ridge High School, Orange County's second high school, is a 206,900-sf facility located on 70 acres southwest of Hillsborough. The school is designed to serve 1000 students, expandable to 1500 students in the future. The site accommodates a 2000-seat athletic stadium, baseball and softball stadiums, 6 tennis courts and practice fields. Parking facilities are provided for 300 students, 150 staff members and 16 school buses. The design of the school is centered on an Outdoor Activity Center. This space provides a safe and secure place for students throughout the day. The large open area adjacent to the cafeteria contains picnic tables, and offer students an outdoor space in which to eat lunch and socialize. This area also accommodates receptions, rallies and teaching recruitment functions. The heavily landscaped, park-like setting to each side of the Media Center is designed to provide a quieter place to study or conduct small group activities. All the landscaping is planted and maintained by the school's agricultural department making it a living horticultural lab.
